On Sunday 9th we are releasing several improvements to how we manage the security of APIs in WAF-as-a-Service.

API Discovery UI update

We have been listening to your feedback and in the first of these improvements, have redesigned how you will be able to view API endpoints and keys in the API Discovery component.

The discoveries that the component makes will now be shown in a table format in the order they were discovered instead of a URL tree view. In the new table view it is possible to add and remove columns to suit the information you wish to see, such as the number of Requests and Errors in the API responses that have been seen and analysed by the system.

Another feature of the table view is the ability to take bulk actions against multiple discovered APIs.

An important new column introduced by the table view is the Confidence Level of the discovery that has been made. You can find further information about this in the section on Traffic Analysis in the API Discovery documentation for WAF-as-a-Service on Barracuda Campus.

JSON Profiles are moving to App Profiles

In the second of the improvements, we are completing the move of all tree based security by merging JSON Profiles in to the URL tree in the App Profiles component.

The JSON Policies will remain in the JSON Security component and the existing tab for JSON Profiles will provide a navigation pointer to App Profiles to help prevent administrators getting lost.

The big advantage of this improvement is you can now see all security policies that apply to a specific URL in a single location. This will make it far easier for administrators to manage API endpoints because you will be able to see what other policies are being applied to the URL without needing to jump between tree views in different components.

We note that all your existing JSON Profiles will not be affected in any way. All that is changing is simply where you will view them within the WAF-as-a-Service portal. The Barracuda Campus documentation for App Profiles and JSON Profiles has also been updated to reflect these changes.
