In 2019, WAF-as-a-Service launched our new regions backed by Microsoft Azure. Compared to the legacy “North America and West Europe (Legacy)” region, these regions offer:

  • Higher resiliency - your application is deployed in two completely separate regions, meaning that even if an entire region goes down, your traffic continues to flow normally.

  • Lower latency - with more regions to choose from, you can pick one that is closer to your application servers, minimizing latency even further.

  • Faster configuration - instead of taking 5 minutes to deploy configuration changes, most changes in non-Legacy regions are deployed in under 15 seconds.

  • New features - as we release new features in WAF-as-a-Service, most of them will only be supported in non-Legacy regions.

If you have applications using the “North America and West Europe (Legacy)” region, you should migrate them to a new, non-legacy region. At this time, we are not requiring you migrate, but we encourage you to do so soon.

You can migrate your application between regions with no downtime. For instructions, see Moving your Application to Another Location in Barracuda Campus.
